On January 10-11, a two-day training course on Personal Data Protection and Freedom of Information took place with the participation of Artsakh journalists.

The course saw active engagement from media professionals keen on understanding the intricacies of safeguarding personal data and promoting freedom of information.

On the first day, attendees delved into the fundamentals of personal data, exploring legal frameworks and engaging in insightful discussions with FOICA’s trainer Gevorg Hayrapetyan. The session covered a spectrum of issues related to the responsible publication of personal information, accompanied by an emphasis on security protocols.

The subsequent day focused on Freedom of Information matters, with Gevorg Hayrapetyan guiding participants through the intricacies of obtaining information, grounds for potential rejection, and the appeals process. To reinforce theoretical learning, journalists applied their newfound knowledge by submitting information requests through a unified electronic platform to relevant state bodies.

The upcoming course is scheduled for January 16-17, 2024, as part of an ongoing initiative by the Freedom of Information Center with support from the international organization Reporters Without Borders.
