At the discussion organized in cooperation with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the Forum on Information and Democracy, Shushan Doydoyan, President of the Freedom of Information Center (FOICA), addressed the safety of journalists on social platforms.
The FOICA President highlighted the growing threats against journalists, the dangers of manipulated content and disinformation spread through artificial intelligence (AI) tools, as well as the issue of data monopolization by technology companies. She presented a set of solutions aimed at ensuring journalists’ protection and media resilience, including educational, legal, and regulatory reforms, financial stability for the media, strengthening fact-checking initiatives, and enhancing data protection mechanisms for journalists.
During the discussion, Shushan Doydoyan proposed the creation of a Security Fund to provide financial and legal support to journalists who have been subjected to targeted harassment and cyberattacks.
