FEATURED

Thanks to two years of efforts of FOICA and active cooperation with partners, the Concept and the Action Plan of the Struggle against Disinformation 2024-2026 were adopted. The documents were developed by the Freedom of Information Center of Armenia.
In January 2024, the "Civil Pact" party, after the FOICA appealed to the court, asked to sign a settlement agreement and provided the required information on pre-election fundraising.
This is the first court precedent in Armenia, which refers to proactive transparency; the local public authority was obliged to fulfill the duty established by the FOI law to ensure proactive transparency, based on a judicial act.

Success Stories 28։ The Energetic Alternative of Armenia in Detail

Prospects and Potential for Energy sector development in Armenia are under the project “Energetic Alternative of Armenia” sub-grant program.

Freedom of Information Center and www.ankakh.com online newsletter in the framework of EU funded “Informed Armenia” project implement “Energetic alternative of Armenia” sub-grant project.

Armenia’s policy in the area of energy saving, alternative energy, and the achievements in that field have an issue of being recorded.

This is important from an environmental perspective, as well as from non-dependence on the energy-rich countries. Many international projects are being implemented by different organizations in the field. In addition, the state also receives international grants and financial support for the development of alternative energy. It is a process of international importance not only for Armenia but also for the whole world, so international donor organizations are also interested in having positive results in the field.

In this field there is a state that is developing policies, there are private beneficiaries who use an alternative source of energy in their houses and a private sector, which offers services and certain systems. Representatives of the field say that too often the lack of awareness prevents the development of the field.

According to Gevorg Avchyan, Project Coordinator and journalist, their goal is to understand general information on energy in Armenia and publicize the private sector-state cooperation. The project also aims at simultaneously presenting the successful international experience in this area, as well as pointing out the prospects and potential of the sector development in the country, presenting opportunities to people, and implementing programs.

That is, on the one hand, there is a problem to study and record whether the Government has effectively carried out all the financial expenses that have been provided for alternative energy or energy efficiency projects and, on the other hand, to inform citizens about alternative energy sources and mechanisms.

Ankakh.com journalist is preparing a platform through LONGRID, where will be shown the work carried out by the state, its effectiveness, impact on other players in the field, and what financial flows have been used. For this purpose, professional meetings are held with representatives of the field, both public and private, and non-governmental organizations.

As a result, the program will create long-term material that can be revised at any time by adding other components or sections.

Here is the video about the project.
