FEATURED

Thanks to two years of efforts of FOICA and active cooperation with partners, the Concept and the Action Plan of the Struggle against Disinformation 2024-2026 were adopted. The documents were developed by the Freedom of Information Center of Armenia.
In January 2024, the "Civil Pact" party, after the FOICA appealed to the court, asked to sign a settlement agreement and provided the required information on pre-election fundraising.
This is the first court precedent in Armenia, which refers to proactive transparency; the local public authority was obliged to fulfill the duty established by the FOI law to ensure proactive transparency, based on a judicial act.

Success Story 23. Comprehensive Details on the Service Vehicles of 84 State Bodies

In 2015 the Freedom of Information Centre of Armenia (FOICA) submitted a written information request to 84 state bodies asking to provide the list of service vehicles, their state numbers, and the model of each vehicle operated by the given state agency. The received information was summarized and published in the FOICA’s web resources www.givemeinfo.am and www.padavat.am, which is a public monitoring platform for service vehicles.

This is complete information that enables citizens and journalists to monitor and watchdog how fairly service vehicles are used by state agencies and officials. Whether they are used for personal purposes or for fulfilling their official duties. The number of official vehicles allows journalists to find out cases of abuse of power and widely publicize them.
