Accessible Information and Informed Public

On 19 July Regional Administrator of Kotayk Kovalenko Shahgaldyan initiated the opening of an information center in Kotayk Regional Administration of the Republic of Armenia. The Regional Administrator of Koyayk, the Diocese, President of the FOICA and representatives from different mass media outlets were present at the opening ceremony.

In Kotayk Regional Administration the importance of the priorities of working publicly has always been emphasized. Thus, all its activities have been organized
exceptionally on that basis and with the aim of making information more accessible for the public. This information center should also be considered as a recurrent initiative for ensuring information accessibility. With its presence the Center will promote the creation of a more viable environment for freedom of information, which is one of the most important elements of democracy.

The visitors to the Center may first present an oral information request and receive necessary directions about the relevant information holder and the presence of that information on the official website. In case of not finding that information online, in the information center it is possible to use the posted legal information request form to file a written information request, with the assistance of an employee upload that information request to the Regional Administration’s electronic “Mulberry” system for document circulation, and receive the requested information in the time period defined by the ARM “Law on Freedom of Information”.

The visitors may use computers in the Center and the 12 digit number that they were given when sending the request, in order to track their application or information request on “Mulberry” system. It should also be added that the “Accessible Information and Informed Public” motto will have an exceptional dominance in the Center, the impulses of which will always be noticeable for the public.
