On 22 – 23 May the Fourth International Conference of Information Commissioners will take place in Manchester, United Kingdom. The annual meeting will be hosted by Mr. Richard Thomas, Information Commissioner of the United Kingdom. This annual conference was established as a yearly opportunity for those with an interest in FOI internationally to focus on issues from around the world.
Major topics of the Conference are as follows: European Perspective of FOI, secrecy issues versus security and FOI, FOI regimes and other statutes – interfaces, conflicts and contradictions. As a president of a leading NGO in FOI in Armenia, Mrs. Shushan Doydoyan is invited to participate in the Conference to introduce situation in Armenia.
On occasion of the 4th International Conference of Information Commissioners a Civil Society Meeting will take place on May 24 organized by Open Society Justice Initiative, Access Info Europe, FOI Advocates Network in collaboration with UK Information Commissioner’s Office. Debates will take place on the following issues: Review of discussions at FOI Commissioners meeting, Information commissions vs. judicial review, Strategies for including independent oversight in ATI laws, models for financing of information commissions, etc.
