SCSA  supports the Government of Armenia in building effective streamlined, data-driven, and citizen-centered strategic communications systems, capacity, and practices.
The FOICA is responsible for the communication components of the JSS Project. The Project started in October 2022 and will end in September 2027.
The project aims to strengthen the capacities and skill sets of media professionals in Armenia on FOI, PDP, and beneficial ownership transparency reforms to investigate and report on matters of public interest.

39. Strengthening the Information Disputes Council in Providing Extra-Judicial Solutions of Media Disputes

The Project aimed at strengthening the extra-judicial mechanisms for solving media-related disputes and better protecting and promoting media freedom in Armenia.

Project Activities are:

  • Seven cases will be examined during the project duration. The final expert opinions will be widely disseminated to the case parties, media, advocates, courts, and other target groups.
  • A three-day TOT for media law professors of journalism and law departments will be organized. 10 participants: 5 journalism and 5 law professors will participate in the training.
  • A 1.5 days joint workshop will be held with participation of 15 journalists and 10 lawyers, including those who represent clients in freedom of expression litigation.
  • One strategic litigation case will be initiated with the focus on a legal issue which would be representing significant public interest.
  • The 3rd collection of IDC opinions which have been issued in 2014-2015 will be compiled. The Collection will serve as a useful reference, as a source for information and guide for all users interested in the defamation and insult issues in Armenia.

The Project is supported by the U.S. Embassy in Yerevan. Project duration is 7 months (Sept. 1, 2015 – March 31, 2016). More information about IDC is avaliable on www.idcarmenia.am.
