Freedom of Information Center organized a two-day workshop on the FOI law implementation in Armenia for the representatives of mass media and NGOs. The workshop took place in Tsaghkadzor on January 17-18.
Workshop speaker Mrs. Marine Hakobyan, NA and FOICA expert represented the principles and implementation mechanisms of FOI law, as well as showed the sample of the information request form.
Mrs. Hasmik Khachatryan, Head of the PR Department Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs also took part in the discussion. She was the first who was honored the “Golden Key” for her open and transparent work. “When the Department works transparently it is useful not only for the information seeker, but for the Department itself, because this enables to avoid fact distortion, which is very dangerous for our work”.
Bulgarian Expert Gergana Jouleva represented FOI picture in their country and talked about the organization “Access to Information Program”, where she works for as the President. “Your law is better than our. The definitions in it are more exact and can rarely be commented in different ways. You must just use it rightly and be consistent”, – mentioned Mrs. Jouleva. She also added that according to the survey of Access to Information Laws and Practices in 14 Countries Armenia by “Open Society Justice Initiative” was announced the best country, though there is a lot to do”.
